Asian Earthquake Appeal
Sunday 26th December 2004.
Today whilst people around the World celebrated Christmas,
A massive earthquake in the Indian ocean was unfolding.
Measuring 9.0. This was the largest Earthquake
the modern world has seen, The ocean floor dropping approximately 10m and
1000km long. The sudden drop of water caused a backlash and Tsunami waves
of up to 10m high was sent outwards.
10 countries were hit by the wave, and deaths were
recorded in Kenya, and Somalia 3000 miles away from the earthquake
epicentre, just off Indonesia.
Whole communities have been swept away. In Indonesia, and
Sri Lanka there are expected to be over 100,000 human deaths alone. India,
Thailand, have 1000's dead.
We cannot desert these suffering nations Leave messages of remembrance and hope Book

It's going to take years, Billions of pounds, to rebuild
these shattered lives.
Here in Europe we are so lucky, rarely having a natural
disaster killing more than 100 people ( tragic though that number is ) In
the area's affected most by this tsunami wave, they regularly have natural
disasters killing 100's of people.
How can we imagine the suffering, the Trauma these people
have endured. Losing, Mothers, Fathers, Children, and grandparents.
There can be nothing worse than a Parent watching their
frightened child being swept away to their deaths. Or a Child whilst
clinging to life, seeing their parents drown.
100's of children have been left with that vision.
They don't understand what has happened, if any of
us do. We cannot let the children suffer on their own. They all need our
help. Can you help us help them.
The immediate disaster relief is now well under way. with
already ( 31st December 2004 ) over £250,000,000 ( 250 Million ) has been
donated, by people and governments around the world.
BUT that amount will only deal with the initial problem,
water, medical supplies, food. These people have lost everything.
Nothing survived. It was all swept away with the 500 MPH floods.

Following the Boxing day 2004 Earthquake in the Indian
Ocean 100's and 1000's of children lost their parents, and their lives.
Although we cannot help those that lost their lives,
ChildSponsors.Org is making this appeal for funds to help the children
that survived.
Today Wednesday 29th December 2005 the UN has announced
70,000 deaths so far.
Thursday the number of confirmed deaths has risen to
90,000, and expected to rise to over 100,000 from the Tsunami alone. With
diseases such as, Typhoid, and Cholera, expected to double the number of
deaths.

The road and rail network in parts of Indonesia, and
Somalia is all but gone.
