it's second child, an 6 year old boy from India.

Maka and his family |
Maka* is a shy child whose favourite games are playing street games and
cricket. His mother says he wants to be a teacher when he is older.
In this part of the world children are expected to play a part in the
families wealth and welfare, and little Maka plays his part to the best of
his ability. But he still has time to play with his family and friends.
Maka is in the 1st grade at primary school and is of average ability.
but with help and encouragement, Maka has the ability to reach his
goal.
Bao's day starts early with chores and then a e
walk to school. Along the way he meets up with her friends which makes
the walk to school more bearable.
Maka's favourite subjects are Art and Sports.
Maka lives with his Father who is at present working as a
labourer. His mother is a full time housewife. His Grandmother. Maka also
has a younger brother and sister.
Maka is currently in good health, and his brother and
sister are in a growth monitoring program. which will help highlight mal
nutrition at an early stage. If Maka gets ill the nearest help is from a
traditional " birth attendant " some 45 minutes away, with the
nearest hospital being about an hour away.
Makas house is small and doesn't have it's own latrine.
the family having to use public facilities for this basic function.
The house does not have its own water supply with water
being gathered from a bore hole and hand pump less than 1k away.
Maka's family and community struggle to meet basic
needs that many of us take for granted. Their incomes are small but they
do have enthusiasm and contribute to projects with their own
expertise including materials and labour.
